Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has successfully kicked off the Visit Maldives Storytellers' Conference 2023.

The Visit Maldives Storytellers' Conference 2023, was commenced at the Crossroads Maldives, on 30th May 2023.

The opening of the event consisted of a half-day conference, was attended by travel writers, journalists, bloggers, influencers, and media experts from around the world. As such, there were more than 80 participants from 20 countries.

The conference held a Sustainability Talks, segment which saw an extraordinary line-up of influential speakers, both international and national.

Maldivian speakers who took part in the conference were the Minister of Environment Climate Change and Technology Aminath Shauna, Special Envoy for Climate Change Sabra Ibrahim Noordeen and the first PADI Platinum Course Director in the Maldives and the First Regional Manager of SSI Maldives Dr. Sham'aa Abdulla Hameed (Anna).

The international speaker line up included; renowned travel writer and tourism thought leader, Doug Lansky, writer, photographer, travel expert, entrepreneur, and public speaker Jessica Nabongo, distinguished novelist and former diplomat Vikas Swarup and versatile CNN correspondent Eleni Giokos.

In addition to taking part in the Sustainability Talks, the international speakers, shared inspiring stories and experiences with the participants of the conference.

The interactive half-day conference was concluded by introducing more exciting activities for the participants of the Visit Maldives Storytellers' Conference 2023.

As such, MMPRC is letting the participants experience the sustainable pole and line fishing of Maldives, gastronomy as well as the tradition and culture of the country.

Additionally, the corporation is also holding a special gala night for the participants.

MMPRC is also offering participants the opportunity to explore remarkable destinations for three days and two nights.

The regions that are being explored during these sideline trips are Raa Atoll, Laamu Atoll, Ari Atoll, Vaavu Atoll, Haa Alifu and Haa Dhaalu Atolls, Kaafu Atoll, Addu Atoll, and Fuvahmulah. As part of this exclusive conference, participants will have the opportunity to explore the natural wonders, engage in exciting activities, and create unforgettable stories to share with the world.

The Visit Maldives Storytellers' Conference 2023 highlights the transformative power of storytelling in the tourism industry, while promoting responsible travel and sustainability. One of the aims of the conference is to position the country beyond the traditional sun, sand, and sea while increasing awareness of the country's MICE and sustainable tourism segments among influencers, bloggers, and travel writers. 

Supporting companies for the conference include Crossroads Maldives as the host property, Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) as the seaplane partner, Maldivian as the domestic airline partner, Jalboot Maldives as the sea transport travel partner, Dhivehi Raajjeyge Gulhun Public Limited (Dhiraagu) as the technology and communication partner, Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company Limited (MIFCO) as the sustainable fisheries partner, and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) as the supporting partner.
