The man who was wanted in connection with a case of breaking in and assault using a dangerous weapon, has been remanded.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that Ibrahim Sameen, 34 and native to Maduvvari island of Raa atoll, was remanded by 30 days upon being presented to the Criminal Court for his remand hearing.
The suspect turned himself in after sundown on Tuesday.
MPS initially issued a manhunt for Sameen earlier that day.
In a publication on Tuesday, MPS revealed that their Serious and Organized Crime Department is currently investigating a case of a group of individuals breaking into an apartment in the congested capital, Malé City, threatening a resident with a sharp weapon, assaulting someone with a dangerous weapon and damaging property at the apartment.
Sameen was wanted to be taken into police custody under a court order. He was immediately arrested after he turned himself in.
The case is under further investigation.
