Discussions have been held on further strengthening existing ties between Maldives and Malaysia.
The discussions were held during the courtesy call, the new Non-Resident High Commissioner of Malaysia to the Maldives Badli Hisham bin Adam, paid on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on Monday.
During the meeting, State Minister Khaleel, congratulated High Commissioner Badli on his appointment and expressed confidence that High Commissioner would serve to reinforce the long-standing brotherly relations between the two countries.
In this regard, State Minister Khaleel and High Commissioner Badli, discussed ways to further strengthen the existing friendly bilateral ties, especially in relation to bilateral trade cooperation, education, sports, and developmental cooperation.
State Minister Khaleel thanked the Government of Malaysia for the kind hospitality extended towards the Maldivian community in Malaysia. He also noted that Malaysia is a destination of choice for Maldivian students and that Malaysia is a country that hosts one of the largest Maldivian communities.
The two of them also discussed consular matters relating to the Maldivians living in Malaysia and exchanged views on further simplifying the arrangements.
High Commissioner Badli was accompanied by the Secretary and Head of Chancery of the High Commission of Malaysia, Aneurin Ignatius.
State Minister Khaleel was accompanied by Secretary Bilateral at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Hala Hameed, Additional Secretary, Amin Javed Faizal, Senior Undersecretary, Fathimath Naeema and Assistant Director, Ibrahim Haail.
