The individuals arrested in connection with a prostitution ring in the congested capital, Malé City, have been remanded.
The Maldives Police Service (MPS) cracked down on a prostitution ring in the capital, Malé City and made several arrests in connection with the case.
13 individuals were arrested in an operation conducted by the Anti-Human Trafficking Department and Police Intelligence in cooperation with the Maldives Immigration after sundown on Wednesday.
Officers raided four locations in the capital city in the joint operation.
Arrested were eight Bangladeshi men, a Bangladeshi woman and four Thai women.
The suspects have since been remanded by 15 days.
The police institution revealed that the operation was carried out against a well-planned and organized criminal ring.
Further investigations are currently underway.
