The project to construct a breakwater and dredge the harbor channel in Manadhoo island of Noonu atoll, is nearing completion.
The Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) revealed that the Manadhoo harbor channel dredging and breakwater construction project has reached 50 percent progress so far.
The company revealed that the ramp construction work began recently and that the installation of the jetty column is at 52 percent completion.
Currently ongoing is the dredging operation of the existing harbor, which has reached 30 percent completion.
MTCC revealed that they are required to dredge and excavate operations of 29,038 cubic meters, construct a breakwater measuring 195 meters and a revetment measuring 188 meters under the project.
Further, they are also required to install a concrete bridge, a ramp and navigational aids.
The project is valued at MVR 30.3 million.
The project was contracted to MTCC on 6 April 2015 by the Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure to be completed within 300 days.
