President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged the public to reflect on national development needs in the upbringing of children.

The Maldivian leader made this appeal in a message delivered to the public on the occasion of Children’s Day.

Stressing on the fact that the state, community, parents, and guardians have individual responsibilities to raise every child with the skills and mindset they require to progress national development further in their chosen fields, the president urged parents and guardians to consider teaching children about current social concerns and issues, as children will grow up to lead the nation’s future.

Further, he went on to shed light on the rights of children and stressed on the significance of celebrating the day.

President Solih noted that the love and care of parents and guardians must be ensured from the birth of every child and that every child should grow up in an environment that gives priority to their health and wellbeing.

He also noted that every child must grow up in an environment that provides the necessary guidance and care they require while also instilling the virtues of moral behavior in them.

President Solih went on to add that Children's Day is marked to promote child welfare and boost public awareness of the rights of children.
