The Government has spent MVR four billion on Public Sector Investment Programs

The Maldivian Government has spent MVR four billion on Public Sector Investment Programs (PSIP), by 27 April 2023.

According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance, the highest expenditure was made on projects related to the transport sector. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 1.2 billion on this sector; with MVR 443.4 million spent on airport development projects and MVR 413.3 million spent on harbor development projects during this time frame. MVR 380.3 million has been spent on bridge development projects.

Additionally, MVR one billion has been spent on road development and land reclamation projects. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 524.8 million on land reclamation projects and MVR 510.2 million on road development projects.

Ministry's statistics show that MVR 335 million has been spent on housing and infrastructure projects.

Additionally, MVR 63.5 million has been spent on general administration projects.

The government has spent MVR 642.6 million on water and sewerage development projects. This includes MVR 513.4 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 75.7 million spent on water systems and MVR 53.5 million spent on sewerage system installation.

Ministry's statistics goes on to reveal that MVR 179.7 million has been spent on the education sector.

While MVR 127.4 million has been spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 31.3 million was spent on waste management projects.

Statistics also shows that MVR 141.1 million was spent on the social and religious services. As such, MVR 24.8 million has been spent on mosques.

Furthermore, MVR 45.8 million was spent on health sector development projects.

The Maldivian Government's expenditure currently sits at MVR 15.7 billion according to the Finance Ministry.
