Since day one, the incumbent administration of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has prioritized the needs and aspirations of the youth community, says Vice President Faisal Naseem.
He made this remark while speaking at the function held to inaugurate the Marriot International Maldives Apprenticeship Program.
Taking the podium at the event held at Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort & Spa, VP Naseem reiterated the administration's commitment to develop youth and to provide higher education and training opportunities to build a resilient and robust workforce prepared for the evolving world.
Highlighting that the administration has diligently invested in youth development, leading to a more prosperous and sustainable future, VP Naseem added that the government has identified the nation's requirements for youth to focus their talents.
He further stated that the administration has launched several programmes targeting these requirements and stressed that the Marriot International Maldives Apprenticeship Program is one such programme aligned with the administration's goal.
In addition to this, he stated that the progress of every country depends on its people, youth, and talents, adding that developed countries like Singapore has heavily invested in human resource development.
The Vice President went on to highlight that President Solih's administration heavily invests in higher education and training to shape a capable workforce.
Speaking regarding the National Apprenticeship Program (NAP), VP Naseem noted that the administration had partnered with the public and private sectors to provide comprehensive training opportunities revolving around on and off-the-job training for Maldivian youth.
VP Naseem stated that the programme is crucial to equip youth with the skills and knowledge required to fulfil national requirements.
Recollecting his time working in the hotel industry as a youth, VP Naseem urged on participants of the programme to make the best use of this opportunity to fulfil their dreams and credited the success of the tourism industry of Maldives, to the hospitable services provided by the workforce.
At the ceremony where the Marriot International Maldives Apprenticeship Program was inaugurated, admission certificates were distributed to 40 participants.
Marriott International is the first international hospitality brand to partner with the NAP. It is also the largest hotel chain in the world and features seven properties across the Maldives.
The programme is carried out in partnership with the administration's NAP.
