The Ministry of Islamic Affairs has received MVR nine million as Zakat al Fitr this year.

The Islamic Ministry stated that the ministry received a total of MVR 9,003,324.05 as Zakat al Fitr, by 29 Ramadan, 1444.

The ministry went onto say that a total of 175,485 people paid zakat during Ramadan.

Furthermore, the ministry noted that they have deposited the money into the accounts of those register as poor.

Statistics shows that 8,446 people were registered with the ministry as poor. 1,736 people in the list were from capital Male' City.

The ministry states that they deposited MVR 3,450 per person to the accounts of the people who were from Male' City, on 20 April, 2023.

As of 20 April, 29 Ramadan 1444, a total of 12,989.3 kg of staple food was received by the Islamic Ministry as Zakat al Fitr. The ministry has distributed these as well.
