MVR 2.5 billion spent on PSIP

The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 2.5 billion on Public Sector Investment Programs

The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 2.5 billion on Public Sector Investment Programs

The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 2.5 billion on Public Sector Investment Programs (PSIP), by 16 March 2023.

According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance, the highest expenditure was made on projects related to the transport sector. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 786.5 million on this sector; with MVR 273.6 million spent on harbor development projects and MVR 333.8 million spent on airport development projects during this time frame. MVR 178.9 million has been spent on bridge development projects.

Additionally, MVR 660.3 million has been spent on road development and land reclamation projects. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 283.9 million on road development projects and MVR 376.4 million on land reclamation projects.

Ministry's statistics show that MVR 235.3 million has been spent on housing and infrastructure projects.

Additionally, MVR 56 million has been spent on general administration projects.

The government has spent MVR 346 million on water and sewerage development projects. This includes MVR 248.3 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 59.7 million spent on water systems and MVR 38.1 million spent on sewerage system installation.

Ministry's statistics goes on to reveal that MVR 104 million has been spent on the education sector.

While MVR 86.5 million has been spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 14.2 million was spent on waste management projects.

Statistics also shows that MVR 77 million was spent on the social and religious services. As such, MVR 9.9 million has been spent on mosques.

Furthermore, MVR 22.5 million was spent on health sector development projects.

The Maldivian Government's expenditure currently sits at MVR 10 billion according to the Finance Ministry.
