Maldives to resume diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran
 
The decision was made following the positive development seen due to the joint Trilateral Statement by Saudi Arabia, Iran and China
 
This includes affirmation of the respect for the sovereignty of states and the non-interference in internal affairs of states
 
This includes an agreement to resume diplomatic relations between the two countries

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has disclosed that the Government of Maldives has decided to resume diplomatic ties with the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Foreign Ministry states that this decision was made following the positive development seen due to the joint Trilateral Statement by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Islamic Republic of Iran and the People's Republic of China.

The Ministry states that the Government of the Republic of Maldives welcomes the Joint Trilateral Statement by Saudi Arabia, Iran and China, announcing that an agreement has been reached between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic of Iran.

This includes an agreement to resume diplomatic relations between the two countries and reopen their embassies and missions and the affirmation of the respect for the sovereignty of states and the non-interference in internal affairs of states.
