MVR 154.3 million has been spent on harbor development projects so far this year

The Maldivian Government has spent MVR 1.1 billion on Public Sector Investment Programs (PSIP), by 23 February 2023.

According to the statistics publicized by the Ministry of Finance, the highest expenditure was made on road development and land reclamation projects. As such, the state has so far spent MVR 332 million on this sector; which is MVR 118.4 million on road development projects and MVR 138.5 million on land reclamation projects.

Additionally, the state has so far spent MVR 242.5 million on projects related to the transportation sector. As such, MVR 154.3 million was spent on harbor development projects and MVR 33.2 million has been spent on airport development projects during this time frame. MVR 54.9 million has been spent on bridge development projects.

Ministry's statistics shows that MVR 126.5 million has been spent on housing and infrastructure projects.

Additionally, MVR 53.5 million has been spent on general administration projects.

The government has spent MVR 94.8 million on water and sewerage development projects. This includes MVR 44.2 million on installation of water and sewerage systems in islands, MVR 35.1 million spent on water systems and MVR 15.5 million spent on sewerage system installation.

Ministry's statistics goes on to reveal that MVR 79.6 million has been spent on the education sector.

While MVR 63.3 million has been spent on coastal protection projects, MVR 5.1 million was spent on waste management projects.

Statistics also shows that MVR 55.8 million was spent on the social and religious services.

Furthermore, MVR 16.8 million was spent on health sector development projects.

The Maldivian Government's expenditure currently sits at MVR 5.9 billion according to the Finance Ministry.
