Chinese market needs to return to its previous position as the number one tourist market: Minister Mausoom
Chinese arrivals are expected to see an increase of 700 percent

Minister Mausoom stated that the country is ready to welcome the Chinese market

Minister of Tourism, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom has stated that the Chinese tourist market needs to be returned to its previous position as the number one tourist market of Maldives.

Minister Mausoom made the statement while speaking on RaajjeTV's 'Falasurukhee' program, on Monday.

Speaking on the program, Minister Mausoom noted that Maldives will be welcoming Chinese tourists by the end of January 2023. He stated that the country is ready to welcome the Chinese market.

Noting the Covid-19 situation of China, Minister Mausoom stated that he has full faith that the Health Ministry of Maldives will take necessary steps regarding this concern.

The Minister went on to assure that the Tourism Ministry and the Health Ministry will be working together to ensure the safety of everyone.

Minister Mausoom went on to say that Chinese tourists are looking forward to visiting the Maldives and noted that the arrivals are expected to see an increase of 700 percent once they start travelling to Maldives again.

The Minister also noted that Chinese tourists are travelers who spend well.

Minister Mausoom noted that it is estimated that Maldives will see 100,000 tourist arrivals from China. He noted that arrivals from other markets are also expected to see an increase in numbers.

Highlighting the achievements of Maldives tourism, Minister Mausoom noted the Maldives has been named the World's Leading Destination for three consecutive years.
