The Ministry of Tourism has urged service providers to increase security measures, ahead of the tourism peak season.

As such, the ministry has noted what the said facilities that provide services for tourists, need to pay attention to, as the peak season approaches.

Tourist service providers have been urged to review and implement an emergency plan to be followed in emergency situations under the set guidelines for it.

They have also been pushed to provide the general briefing regarding security, during tourist check-ins as well as to reinforce a detailed briefing session regarding water sports and other activities related to the water before they begin.

The said facilities are also required to conduct regular awareness programs and training sessions for staff employed to provide water sports activities, under the set guidelines.

The ministry revealed that their aim is to ensure the tourism sector is a safe and secure one that ensures the safety of tourists and those employed in the sector alike, in the coming year as well.
