President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has concluded his four-island tour of Bodu Thiladhunmathi atoll.
The president concluded the three-day official visit on Wednesday.
During the tour, the president visited Naivaadhoo and Finey islands in Haa Dhaal atoll and Utheemu and Dhidhdhoo islands in Haa Alif atoll.
Highlights of the president’s trip include the First Couple taking part in the festivities to celebrate the National Day of Maldives.
As such, First Lady Fazna Ahmed joined President Solih in Utheemu island, also attended the flag hoisting ceremony to mark the National Day.
In his address at the official ceremony held to mark the National Day, President Solih noted that ensuring more convenient livelihoods and a ‘Jazeera’ lifestyle for all communities across the country without discrimination and bias, is the best way to honor the country's nationality.
Utheemu residents hosted a traditional banquet in honor of the president and the first lady and other dignitaries.
The visit also saw the president attending the official launching of Zone One of the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service, where he stated that restoring the wealthy and self sustained autonomy of the islands, is re-introduced with the commencement of the RTL service.
As part of the visit, President Solih also inaugurated some of the infrastructural development projects that had been completed in the Bodu Thiladhunmathi region including the installation of water networks and sewerage systems.
President Solih also with the Island Councils and Women’s Development Committee (WDC) members in the respective islands and visited government offices and enquired about the services and their needs.
A delegation of cabinet ministers and senior government officials accompanied the president on the tour.
