The government of Maldives and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on pollical consultations.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid on behalf of the Maldivian government, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud signing on behalf of the Saudi kingdom.
The Memorandum of Understanding Regarding Political Consultations Between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Maldives and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was signed on Monday, during a ceremony held in New York on the sidelines of the 77th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
The MoU carries the purpose of enhancing and expanding the bilateral relations and cooperation between Maldives and Saudi Arabia.
Further, the MoU will also facilitate the holding of regular consultations between both countries at all levels on bilateral relations and international issues of mutual interest.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed that the signing of the MoU mirrors the strong brotherly relations between Maldives and Saudi Arabia as well as the shared desire and commitment of the two countries to elevate the existing partnership to even greater heights.
