Vice President Faisal Naseem has urged the society to embrace individual roles and responsibilities in order to ensure an educated generation.
He said this while speaking at the ceremony held to inaugurate the first school to be opened in Hulhumalé Phase II.
Kaamil Didi Primary School, named after Ahmed Kaamil Didi, was inaugurated on Sunday morning.
Taking the podium at the event, VP Naseem stressed that an educated generation can only be ensured when every individual embraces their role and responsibility in the society.
Noting that parents send their children to school with “high” hopes of a bright future for their children, VP Naseem shed light on the role of teachers, parents and the government in facilitating the process of building an educated generation of youth.
However he said, this goal can only be achieved through collective efforts.
Shedding light on the virtues of education, VP Naseem said that students who graduate should be shaped to have the skills and knowledge to face everyday challenges.
As such, he noted that graduates must be productive members of society who are capable of earning a living by utilizing the skills they attained in school.
Going on to touch down on the significance of demonstrating good behavior, VP Naseem said that such behavior must be fostered both at home and school, in order to instil it in future generations.
VP Naseem urged the society to instill proper morals and ethics, if they wish to teach their children these values.
He also shed light on the life of Ahmed Kaamil Didi and his contributions to Dhivehi literature and the development of the education sector.
The school is built in the premises of the Hiya housing Towers and was opened in the presence of 824 students and 65 staff.
