AirAsia is to launch Bangkok-Maldives daily direct flights this August.
Director of commercial for Thai AirAsia, Santisuk Klongchaiya said that the first flight 'will take to the sky on August 11, with a promotional tour'.
The promotional fare is open until June 25, and starts at 1,990 Thai Baht (USD 99) per trip for travel from the 11th to 28th of August, 2017.
Noting that Maldives is seen as costly and catering 'to certain types of travelers', Director Klongchaiya said that AirAsia decided to start direct flight between Maldives and Thailand so 'Everyone Can Fly' to Maldives and see that 'it offers a wide variety of accommodation from guest houses to opulent resorts".
"We are confident the route will see robust growth, especially as AirAsia is the first low-fare carrier to Bangkok-Maldives link", Klongchaiya added.
AirAsia currently offers direct flights between Kuala Lumpur and Maldives.
