Maldives added to Indonesia's on-arrival visa list

The government of Indonesia has added Maldives to the list of countries granted visa-on-arrival.
This was revealed by the Immigration department of Indonesia.
The authority revealed that with the addition of Maldives to the list of countries granted on-arrival visa by the country, the list currently includes 75 countries.
In a Twitter post following this, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid expressed gratitude to his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Menteri Luar for once again including Maldives in the list of countries granted on-arrival visa.
Maldivians traveling to Indonesia will be granted on-arrival visa from 12am, Wednesday.
This comes at a time President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had requested the Indonesia government to ease visa facilitations for Maldivian traveler. This was done during a ceremony held in May, where the new Ambassador of Indonesia Dewi Gustina Tobing presented her credentials to the Maldivian president.
This will be a positive step in the Maldives-Indonesia relations as Indonesia is a country frequented by Maldivians, for many different purposes.
At present, the island nation has been granted on-arrival visa from a total of 87 countries, with the government seeking to ease visa facilitations from many other countries across the globe.
Maldives and Indonesia have enjoyed a decades-long relationship, with the close ties primarily being linked to close people-to-people contact. The island nation remains hopeful of increasing bilateral consultations to further explore new avenues of cooperation to solidify the bond with Indonesia.
