Dhiraagu has received the ’50 Years of Tourism Award by MATI’.
This was awarded to Dhiraagu, recognizing the company’s role in developing nations telecommunication infrastructure that has helped the growth and innovation of tourism industry in the Maldives.
The award was received by CEO and Managing Director of Dhiraagu, Ismail Rasheed at the 50 Years of Maldives Tourism Awards ceremony by MATI held at Kurumba Maldives, on Sunday evening.
Ismail Rasheed stated that the company is honored to receive the award by MATI. He expressed gratitude to the association for recognizing Dhiraagu’s contribution in the development of the tourism industry in the Maldives.
Additionally, he noted that Dhiraagu has always maintained a strong and symbiotic relationship with the tourism industry. As such he highlighted that the company, together with industry stakeholders have played a key role in developing the country, enriching lives of the people and communities.
Ismail Rasheed stated that Dhiraagu remain committed to help connect and support the transformation of the tourism industry in the digital age.
Dhiraagu highlights that the company continues to serve all business customers beyond connectivity and remains as the digital transformation partner for the hospitality industry in the Maldives.
The Maldives Association of Tourism Industry (MATI)'s "50 Years of Tourism Awards" event was held to honor organizations and individuals who have exceptionally contributed to the Tourism Industry of Maldives over these past 50 years. This event is a highlight of the celebrations to mark the Golden Jubilee of Tourism in Maldives planned by MATI.
During the award ceremony, MATI handed over a total of 57 awards. Out of the 57 awards handed-out at the ceremony, four awards were given to the Pioneers of Maldives tourism and 2 awards were given to previous presidents in recognition of their contribution to the tourism industry of Maldives.
The winners were selected by a committee of industry experts and veterans that comprehensively vetted and evaluated all nominations received.
The Chairman of MATI, Mohamed Umar Maniku initiated the awards ceremony by delivering the welcome address, followed by remarks by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, who was the chief guest for this event.
