The government is to proceed with its legislative agenda for 2023 – 2028.

This was announced by the President’s Office on Thursday, following a meeting President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu held with his Cabinet of Ministers.

The president’s decision to follow through the "Government's Legislative Agenda 2023-2028" stemmed from discussions held at the cabinet meeting, on a paper submitted by the Attorney General's Office.

The Government's Legislative Agenda 2023-2028 includes bills approved by the cabinet, to be submitted to the People’s Majlis for approval during the Muizzu administration.

The government’s legislative agenda highlights the bills that the incumbent administration plans to submit to the People’s Majlis during Muizzu’s five-year presidential term.

The agenda includes legislative reforms required for good governance and to ensure the safety and prosperity of the country and its citizens.

The legislative agenda comprises a total of 213 bills across 15 sectors.

As such, it revolves around drafting bills for 78 new acts and 135 bills aimed at amending existing laws that require revision or repeal.
