BML announces ‘World Oceans Day TikTok Challenge’

Bank of Maldives (BML) has announced the ‘World Oceans Day TikTok Challenge’ to celebrate moments in the sea, where TikTok users can share a video clip about what the ocean means to them, to stand a chance to win an “exciting” gift bundle.

In a press release issued on Wednesday, the country’s national bank revealed that they held Discover Dives for children with disabilities as part of its celebrations to mark World Oceans Day as well.

As such, BML revealed that it collaborated with local dive schools to provide introductory Discover Dives for children with disabilities to mark the World Oceans Day to #RevitalizeTheOcean.

18 individuals from Maldives Association for Person with Disabilities and Autism Association joined in the dive .

The initiative carries the main purpose of providing children with disabilities an opportunity to experience the ocean through scuba diving, which has been proven to be both therapeutic and rehabilitative.

The discover dive sessions were supported by locally renowned dive centers ‘Divers Lodge’, ‘Dive Club’ and ‘Moodhu Bulhaa’ over the course of three days.

The TikTok challenge was also announced on Wednesday and is open for submissions through 11:59pm, June 13.

The participants may create and upload a video through TikTok, which contains a mix of photos and videos that depict what the ocean means to them. The uploaded videos must have the bank’s account tagged as well as the hashtag #MoodhuMoments in the caption.

Only save-able videos uploaded to public accounts belonging to Maldivians, will be eligible for the challenge.

BML revealed that they will be accepting multiple video entries as well and the judging criteria involves 60 percent for creativity and 40 percent for overall engagement for the entry.

The winner will be gifted a bundle containing a BML Gift Card of MVR 2,500, a TODDY Valencia 750 ml Reusable Flask, a TODDY Bathymetric Turquoise Beach Towel, a MULA Moisturizing Sunscreen Lotion, a MULA After Sun Gel, a soap bar and a ‘Sand Kisses’ shampoo bar by OGAA.

The winner will be selected by an internal judging panel and will be announced on the bank’s social media platforms including TikTok, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter during the third week of June.
