The Non-resident Ambassador of Maldives to Spain, Dr. Farahanaz Faizal has presented her Letters of Credence to the King of Spain, King Felipe VI.

Taking to Twitter following the credentials ceremony, Dr. Faizal expressed deep honor in having presented her credentials as Ambassador of Maldives to Spain.

She also expressed keen interest to observe closer ties between the two countries.

In a Twitter post, the Maldivian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdulla Shahid congratulated Dr. Faizal on presenting her credentials.

He went on to express confidence that the close bonds of friendship and cooperation between Maldives and Spain will continue to flourish during her tenure.

The Maldivian non-resident ambassador to Spain presented her credentials during a special ceremony held to mark the occasion, at the Royal Palace in Madrid on Monday.

A private audience with the king of Spain was granted to Dr. Faizal following the credentials ceremony.

During the meeting, Dr. Faizal and the king of Spain discussed numerous issues ranging from climate change to geopolitics of the Indian Ocean and on building closer relations between Spain and the Maldives.

Third Secretary at the High Commission of the Republic of Maldives in London, Mariyam Afnaan accompanied the ambassador during the ceremony.
