Maldives condemns storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli nationalists

The government of Maldives has condemned the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli nationalists.

In a Twitter Post, the President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih condemned the actions of Israeli ultranationalists who desecrated the sanctity of Masjid Al-Aqsa during the Flag March in Jerusalem on Sunday.

The president noted that the Maldives and its people remain steadfast in their solidarity with the cause of Palestinians.

A statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday reads that the government condemns the storming of the Al-Aqsa Mosque by Israeli nationalists and that incessant and frequent nature of such immoral actions by Israel in the Al-Aqsa Mosque are in “clear” violation of international law and the relevant UN Security Council as well as the United Nations General Assembly resolutions.

Reaffirming its solidarity with the people and government of Palestine, the government has reiterated its steadfast commitment to work closely with the international community to advocate the cause of Palestine.

The statement goes on to read that the Maldives will continue to keep reminding the international community of their obligation to promote and protect the full enjoyment of fundamental rights of the Palestinian people.
