Discussions have been held on increasing dialogue between Maldives and Kazakhstan, in the international sphere.
The discussions were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, after the newly appointed Non-Resident Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Maldives, Nurlan Zhalgasbayev paid a courtesy call on the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ahmed Khaleel.
The newly appointed ambassador presented his Letters of Credence to President Solih at a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Monday morning.
The state minister congratulated Ambassador Zhalgasbayev on his appointment and exchanged views on further enhancing the close bilateral ties that the two countries over the years.
Further, the state minister and ambassador agreed to increase dialogue in the international sphere as well as to cooperate more closely on issues of mutual interest.
The ambassador was accompanied by Ulybek Tulekin, Second Secretary - Consul and Yerlan Shakhay, Third Secretary, Embassy of Kazakhstan, New Delhi during the meeting, whereas State Minister Khaleel was joined by Additional Secretary at the Foreign Ministry Javed Faizal, Executive Director Fathmath Naeema and Senior Desk Officer Mohamed Thahseen.
Zhalgasbayev is the first Non-Resident Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Maldives who has presented his credentials to the Maldivian president.
Omar Abdul Razzak, the Non-Resident Ambassador of Maldives to Kazakhstan presented his Letters of Credence to the President of Kazakhstan last year.
