Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that the Maldivian Government welcomes the establishment of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen.

The statement made public by the Foreign Ministry, proclaimed that the Government of Maldives welcomes the establishment of the Presidential Leadership Council in Yemen to complete the implementation of the tasks of the transitional period, and delegate it to the full powers of the President, in accordance with the Yemeni constitution, the Gulf initiative and its executive mechanisms.

Additionally, the Ministry stated that the Government of Maldives affirms its full support for the Council to undertake the duties entrusted in establishing an effective, democratic and transparent government.

Moreover, the Government expressed hope that this important development would contribute to reaching a comprehensive political solution between the Yemeni parties. The statement stressed the Maldivian Government's hope for peace, stability, growth and prosperity for the people of Yemen.
