Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has completed 55 percent of the harbor development project in Hanimaadhoo island of Haa Dhaal atoll.

According to the company, the work on design and build of Hanimaadhoo harbor upgrade project is well underway.

Currently ongoing is the quay wall concrete work and MTCC revealed that they have also begun the construction of a sand-filled breakwater.

Under the scope of the project, MTCC is contracted to dredge a new harbor basin up to 53,522.50 cubic meters, and a harbor entrance channel of 31,575.50 cubic meters.

MTCC is also contracted to construct a breakwater measuring 355 meters, a revetment measuring 50 meters and a 270-meter quay wall.

Further, the installation of 2,583 square meters of pavement is also included under the project.

The project is valued at MVR 64.6 million.

The Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure awarded the project to MTCC on 24 September 2019.
