The High Commissioner of Bangladesh, Rear Admiral Mohammad Nazmul Hassan has received thanks from the President of Maldives, for his contributions to reinforce the existing bilateral relations between the two countries during his tenure.
During a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Tuesday morning, the Bangladeshi HC paid his farewell call on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Expressing his admiration of the Bangladeshi HC’s contributions during his tenure, the Maldivian President went on to discuss future areas of cooperation with Bangladesh.
Further, he went on to express his sincere gratitude for the assistance provided by the Government of Bangladesh in critical areas of mutual interest such as human resource development, higher education, healthcare and economic cooperation.
The meeting also saw the Bangladeshi HC extending gratitude to the Maldivian Government for the assistance provided to the people of Bangladesh working and residing in the Maldives, throughout the ongoing global COVID-19 pandemic.
He then thanked the government for the generous donation of COVID-19 vaccine doses to the people of Bangladesh.
Maldives donated 201,600 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine to the people of Bangladesh amid the pandemic.
The pair went on to recall the high-level successful visits conducted by the heads of state and government of both countries, which in turn enhanced the relationship between Maldives and Bangladesh.
Diplomatic relations were established between Maldives and Bangladesh, on 22 September 1978.
