President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured the council of Kalaidhoo island in Laamu atoll that the issues facing the island community will be addressed.
The president met with the island councilors at the President’s Office on Sunday, where he was briefed on the most pressing concerns facing the island community, as well as their development priorities.
Concerns shared with the president include those regarding the scarcity of space in the island harbor region, the need for expanded office space for the council as well as infrastructural development for the island school.
Further, the president was also briefed regarding concerns revolving around socio-economic development.
Listening to the concerns of Kalaidhoo island councilors, President Solih reaffirmed that solutions for some of the issues highlighted by the councilors have already been planned to be included in the state budget for 2022.
He added that consultations will be held with the relevant authorities to address the remaining issues facing the island community.
The island councilors also received updates regarding ongoing and planned development initiatives for the island.
