President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has assured that issues and concerns facing Magoodhoo island in Faafu atoll, will be addressed.
In a meeting with the Magoodhoo Island Council, the president was briefed on the issues facing the island community, such as the requirement of an airport, upgrades healthcare services and amenities, banking issues as well as educational concerns.
As such, councilors of Magoodhoo island noted that the healthcare system in the island needs an upgrade in order to provide round-the-clock health services.
Adding that the community required ATM services for efficient banking especially because the island has a university outpost. They went on to note that the school needs a library, and that a futsal field is also required.
The president was also briefed regarding difficulties facing the council due to the restrictions on the budget.
During the meeting, the president urged the council to continuously support the government’s zone development plans as usual.
Having listened to the councilors’ concerns, the president reaffirmed that work will be carried out with the relevant institutions and authorities to address and consecutively resolve said issues.
He promised to include the upgrading of Magoodhoo Island's healthcare services and establishing a futsal field in the 2022 state budget.
The latest information on the Magoodhoo Island land reclamation project was also shared with the island council. The meeting was also joined by MP for Bilehdhoo Constituency, Ahmed Haleem.
