Foreign ministry closely monitoring brutal murder of Maldivian in Italy

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is closely monitoring the case of a Maldivian being brutally slain in Italy.

Mahmood Imad, native to Nolhivaranfaru island in Haa Dhaal atoll, was found hanged in his residence, it is believed that he was tortured before he was hanged. No official authorities have confirmed the details yet.

Imad was residing in Italy and was married to an Italian native, who is believed to have been living in Nolhivaranfaru island along with her father, at the time of her spouse's murder.

The Maldivian foreign ministry received reports of the gruesome murder and began probing the case immediately. The authority has assured that they are monitoring the murder, closely and providing the required support and assistance to the murder victim’s family.

Maldives Police Service (MPS) is yet to provide any details regarding the matter.
