Work underway to solve salary crisis of health sector workers

In August, a total of 1,796 employees working in the health sector had faced issues in regards to their salary
Relevant offices are working to have their employees return the extra money deposited

The Finance Ministry has revealed that work is underway to work out the issue of money deposited as the salaries of some health sector employees, for the month of August.

The ministry stated that they are currently working to reimburse pay cuts and take back the extra money deposited as per the Public Finance Regulation. They affirmed that relevant offices are working to have their employees return the extra money deposited and assured that a similar mistake will not be repeated in the future.

It is to be noted that in the month of August, a total of 1,796 employees working in the health sector had faced issues in regards to their salary. This matter was reported to the Finance Ministry at 07:45pm on August 31. Furthermore, the ministry recognized that the matter had surfaced due to the various number of salary sheets being mixed up.

While employees have been asked to not use the extra money deposited to their accounts by the Finance Ministry, through the Health Ministry, it is to be noted that according to the law, employees are not allowed to use the extra money accidentally transferred to their account.

Moreover, although some employees received a total of MVR 70,000 to MVR 95,000, others did not even receive their basic salary.
