MP of Maamigili Constituency, Gasim Ibrahim stated that the Maldives has never seen a leader as tyrannical and treacherous as former President, Yameen Abdul Gayoom and described him as the most malignant thief ever.
In the Parliament session held on Tuesday, while speaking about the amendments to the Maldivian Land Act, MP of Naifaru Constituency, Ahmed Shiyam spoke out of topic and said that Yameen is a political leader that has always worked to satisfy the needs of the citizens. He also constantly described the former President’s jail sentence to be unjust.
Gasim then argued that the Maldives has never been under the rule of a president as tyrannical as Yameen.

While MP Gasim made this statement, MP of Central Maafanu, Ibrahim Rasheed also argued against Shiyam’s utterance. He stated that this has nothing to do with the main topic of discussion and urged that the Parliament speak on the main topic as speaking about other things could cause a lot of confusion for the public.
Recently, heated arguments have been taking place during Parliament sessions between members from the administration’s coalition and those from the opposing coalition.
