President reveals efforts to create a 'precise registry' of uninhabited islands
He will conclude the tour and return to Male' on Thursday night

President Solih said this during a meeting with the members of Kolhumadulu Atoll Council on Wednesday

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, in his meeting with the members of Kolhumadulu Atoll Council on Wednesday, revealed efforts create a precise registry of uninhabited islands.

President Solih met with the council members at the Secretariat of the Kolhumadulu Atoll Council in Veymandoo Island during his ongoing seven-island tour of the atoll.

While the members shared their concerns from residents with the president, including facilitating more employment opportunities as well as better utilisation of uninhabited islands in the Atoll.

Addressing their concerns, President Solih updated the councillors on the ongoing and future development plans that will impact the atolls' residents. As such, he noted that the government’s future plans include developing the fisheries sector and expanding tourism in Thaa atoll.

Further, in regards to the concerns regarding utilising uninhabited islands in the atoll, he told the councillors that efforts are underway to accumulate updated information to create a precise registry of uninhabited islands.

After the meeting, President Solih toured the Veymandoo Health Centre and the Veymandoo Police Station while speaking with the staff about their concerns.

After concluding the visit to Veymandoo, the president and delegation traveled to Vandhoo island. From there, they traveled to Kandoodhoo with a stop to Gaadhiffushi island scheduled next. The president will end the tour and return to Male' this evening.

While President Solih left of the three-day tour on Tuesday, he has already visited Thimarafushi, Kinbidhoo and Omadhoo.
