The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has resumed agreement signing for the 'Hiyaa' social housing flats on Saturday.

The process was halted after an HDC employee tested positive for coronavirus.

While HDC confirmed that the signing of agreements will continue from 7-18 August, a schedule for the recipients of the flats, who are required to sign has also been publicized.

HDC stated that although the keys are handed over to the owners, they will not be required to pay rent until the three-month period for the finishing work is complete, even after the agreement is signed.

Moreover, if the recipient wishes to bring more changes to the flat, a special form is to be filled out and it is to be noted that work in relation to water accessibility within the flat will be attended to immediately upon request.

According to HDC, MVR 8,500 is to be paid as the monthly rent for the housing units for the next 25 years.
