Prior to the appointment Sabra served as the Secretary of Foreign Relations at the President's Office

Sabra Ibrahim Noordeen has been appointed the Special Envoy for Climate Change.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih made the appointment on Wednesday, under Article 11(a) of the Climate Emergency Act.

The president is vested with the power to appoint a Special Envoy for Climate Change to represent and lead Maldives’ interests revolving around climate change in the international arena under the act.

The ambassadorial position of Special Envoy for Climate Change holds equal ranks to Ministers of State.

Prior to her appointment to the position, Sabra served as the Secretary of Foreign Relations at the President’s Office.

The new appointee also served in positions at the British High Commission in Colombo as well as the Maldives Police Service.

Sabra attained a Masters in Science in State, Society and Development from the University of London, United Kingdom.
