Spouse of former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Nasreena Ibrahim has tested positive for coronavirus.
Secretary General of Maumoon’s Maldives Reform Party (MRM) confirmed this to RaajjeMV, adding that the former first lady is well and quarantined at home.
The 83-year-old former president contracted the virus back in August 2020, and was admitted at Dharumavantha Hospital for treatment.
Maumoon has been urging the public to get vaccinated against Covid-19, as well as calling on authorities to enhance Covid-19 safety measures to control the spread
Maldives’ Covid-19 total reached 69,831 with the 295 cases reported on Friday. While a total of 56,559 recoveries have been recorded, there are currently 13,071 active cases in the island nation.
