The total number of Covid-19 cases detected in southernmost Addu City has been pushed to 308 with three additional cases reported by sundown on Friday.
Addu Emergency Center revealed that the new cases include two from Hithadhoo district and one from Maradhoo district.
Between 6pm Thursday and 6pm Friday healthcare authorities in the southernmost city tested a total of 119 samples for Covid-19.
According to statistics publicized by the Addu Equatorial Hospital after sundown on Friday, five additional Covid-19 patients in Addu City had reported to have observed full recoveries from the virus, with which the city’s active case tally has fallen to 119.
A total of 187 persons who contracted the virus in the southernmost city have recovered thus far.
Active cases across the districts include 78 in Hithadhoo, eight in Maradhoo, two in Maradhoo Feydhoo and two in Feydhoo districts. There are 26 active Covid-19 cases in Hulhudhoo district with one active case each remaining in Gan, Meedhoo and an operational resort in the region; South Palm Resort.
The pandemic has claimed two lives in Addu City so far and as of sundown on Friday three persons remain hospitalized for Covid-19 treatment.
Healthcare authorities revealed that since April 30, a total of 4,973 samples had been tested for Covid-19 and they have identified 480 active direct contacts.
Monitoring measures were implemented across the southernmost city for a second time on May 1, since then, cases are being reported on a daily basis and the city council has urged cooperation and support from the city community in controlling and curbing the spread of the virus.
