Members of parliament from the main political opposition Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) have chosen to abstain from voting in the report submitted to parliament regarding investigations into top-level leaders suspected of corruption in the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) grand corruption scandal's.

Six MPs from PPM elected to the 19th People's Majlis were identified as suspects in the MMPRC corruption case, alongside four MPs from main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and one MP each from the People's National Congress (PNC) and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA). Two additional MPs from Jumhooree Party were also named as suspects, along with two independent members.

Members of Parliament from Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) named in the MMPRC corruption suspects list:

1. Leader of the PPM parliamentary group and MP for Eydhafushi constituency Ahmed Saleem

2. MP for Naifaru constituency Ahmed Shiyam

3. MP for Guraidhoo constituency Ibrahim Riza

4. MP for Mahibadhoo constituency Ahmed Thariq

5. MP for Guraidhoo constituency Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon

6. MP for Faresmaathodaa constituency Hussain Mohamed Latheef

Members of Parliament from main-ruling Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) named in the MMPRC corruption suspects list:

1. Leader of the MDP parliamentary group and MP for Central-Henveiru constituency Ali Azim

2. MP for Mulaku constituency Ibrahim Naseer

3. MP for Maradhoo constituency Ibrahim Shareef

4. MP for Kendhikulhudhoo constituency Ahmed Easa 

Other Members of Parliament identified as suspects in MMPRC corruption list:

1. Member of Parliament for Maavashu constituency Mohamed Saeed, from the People's National Congress (PNC)

2. Member of Parliament for Dhangethi constituency Col. Rtd. Mohamed Nazim, from Jumhooree Party (JP)

3. Member of Parliament for Kendhoo constituency Ali Hussain, from Jumhoore Party (JP)

4. Member of Parliament for the Kudahuvadhoo constituency Ahmed Aamir, from the Maldives Development Alliance (MDA)

5. Member of Parliament for the Villingilli constituency Saud Hussain, Independent

6. Member of Parliament for the Nilandhoo constituency Abdul Muhsin Hameed, Independent

Six members of parliament suspected of corruption in the MMPRC case had declined from attending parliament to vote on Wednesday, including MP for Naifaru constituency Ahmed Shiyam, MP for Mahibadhoo constituency Ahmed Thariq, MP for Faresmaathodaa constituency Mohamed Latheef, MP for Maavashu constituency Mohamed Saeed, MP for Guradhoo constituency Ghassan Maumoon and MP for Maradhoo constituency Ibrahim Shareef.

A total of 281 suspects had been named in the MMPRC corruption suspects list as received by the Joint Parliament Committee on National Security Services and Judiciary, including 119 parties currently appointed to various positions and public offices. The committee had publicized the report after asserting that investigations into the case would not be hindered as a result.
