The main opposition Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has successfully concluded it’s 'Ran Reendhoo' event to mark the party’s 20th anniversary.

The event was held on Friday evening at the Hulhumalé Central Park. The event began with a special message delivered by former MDP Chairperson Mariya Ahmed Didi. In her message, she noted that the Run Reendhoo event was initially planned to be held on July 18. However, Mariya highlighted that they faced challenges when permission for the activity was not granted.

In an interview with RaajjeTV after the run, former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih said that this was an important activity where the public came together to participate in party affairs. He also stated that the only way to overcome the current government's shortcomings and obstacles is by working together.

Speaking to RaajjeTV during the run, former Vice President Faisal Naseem said that the spirit of party members working together is now visible. Faisal also mentioned that the party is working on preparations for the upcoming days.

MDP Chairperson Fayyaz Ismail told RaajjeTV that the party's strongest focus at the moment is strengthening the party. Fayyaz also said that the purpose of such an activity is to foster unity. He stated that they are currently working on promoting the MDP brand.

Former and current parliament members who spoke to RaajjeTV during the run emphasized the need to strengthen the party, prepare for upcoming elections, and hold the government accountable.
