Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) the main party of the ruling coalition is holding their presidential primary for this year's presidential election on Saturday.

Running for the ticket are ex-President Mohamed Nasheed and current President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih

Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid cast his vote in the MDP Presidential Primary Election 2023. Minister Shahid cast his vote at Kalaafaan School, where the ballot box for Central Henveiru constituency has been placed.

243 ballot boxes have been placed across the country
A total of 243 ballot boxes have been placed across the country for the MDP Presidential Primary Election 2023.

57,255 members of the party are eligible to cast their ballots in the primary
A total of 57,255 members of the main ruling party are eligible to cast their ballots in the MDP Presidential Primary Election 2023.
Voting at the polling stations will proceed until 5pm, Saturday.
