Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) the main party of the ruling coalition is holding their presidential primary for this year's presidential election on Saturday.

Running for the ticket are ex-President Mohamed Nasheed and current President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih
President Solih urges all MDP members to work together
President Solih thanked all those who was working tirelessly for his victory, and voted for him during Saturday's poll.
He added all MDP supporters intend to move further with the party.
President Solih also acknowledged the "example" shown by his competitors.
The president stated that the party needs to come together to win the presidential election, highlighting that the competition is over from tonight.

Supporters celebrate President Solih's victory
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's supporters have begun celebrating after his landslide win in the MDP Presidential Primary, held earlier on Saturday.
As such, a large number of people had gathered near MDP's main campaign site on Saturday evening to celebrate their candidate's victory.

VP Naseem congratulates President Solih
Vice President Faisal Naseem has congratulated President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on winning the MDP presidential primary election held on Saturday.
In a Twitter post, VP Naseem highlighted that Solih's win mirrors the faith MDP supporters have in his "progressive" policies and the development he is bringing to the entire country, without discrimination.
President Solih's victory to be celebrated tonight at MDP main campaign site
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's campaign team has decided to celebrate his landslide victory in MDP presidential election at 10pm at the MDP main campaign site.
According to the team, they will be serving "Bondibaiy", a traditional Maldivian dessert, for campaign teams and supporters at MDP's main campaign site at 10pm.
With this, President Solih's campaign team has extended the invitation to attend the event.

Many have started pouring congratulations on President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on the confirmation of winning the MDP presidential primary election.
These include Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer, Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof and Tourism Minister Dr. Abdulla Mausoom.

Maldives Third-Way Democrats (MTD) congratulates President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on winning MDP's presidential primary.
The party said the people of the Maldives have accepted the peace, peace and tranquility brought by President Solih to the Maldives and efforts to save the country from the scourge of Covid-19.
Nasheed leading "most" of the ballot boxes: Hassan Latheef
Candidate #1, Former President and current Speaker of the People's Majlis Mohamed Nasheed is leading "most" of the ballot boxes, says his campaign manager West Henveiru constituency MP Hassan Latheef.
He noted that the campaign team is evaluating the result sheets and that a massive difference in the results is because there was an extraordinary number of votes in "a few" ballot boxes.

Candidate #1, Former President and current Speaker of the People's Majlis Mohamed Nasheed's campaign team "Fikurehge Dhirun" has publicized a press release.
In the press release the campaign team noted that they are thoroughly evaluating the result sheets from Saturday's MDP Presidential Primary Election.
The campaign team noted that although "Nasheed is leading most of the ballot boxes", the team has observed that the opponent, incumbent President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has taken the lead with an extraordinary amount of votes cast to a "less" number of ballot boxes.

President Solih secures major lead in MDP primary 2023
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has secured a major lead in the ongoing MDP Presidential Primary Election 2023.
As such, the president is currently in the lead with 65 percent of the votes in the ballot boxes counted so far.
His opponent, Former President and current Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed is currently falling behind with just 35 percent of the votes.
