Nasheed yet to undergo one more essential procedure

In a Twitter post close to 12pm on Friday, ADK Hospital revealed that Former President Mohamed Nasheed is still due to undergo one more essential procedure, due to injuries attained in Thursday's explosion attack.

ADK Hospital revealed that Nasheed has had multiple successful surgeries so far, since he was rushed to the hospital on Thursday night.

Early Friday the hospital revealed that the need for further surgeries was identified through the assessment of the speaker's injuries. They revealed that a specialist team is active in performing required essential surgeries.

The Maldives Police Service released a statement a little past 11:30am, revealing that they will be holding a press conference in connection to the explosion attack in Maldives capital on Thursday night, at 2pm on Friday.

The press conference will be held at the multi purpose hall of the Iskandar Building.

Former President Nasheed undergoing third surgery following explosion attack

Raajje MV has learned that former president and Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed is now undergoing his third surgery for injuries sustained in an explosion outside his home on Thursday night.

Speaker Nasheed had initially been treated for flesh wounds, with a CT scan taken after his head injury was attended to. The scan showed damage to former president Nasheed's lung, following which a second surgery was performed on the Speaker. The third surgery is being performed to repair damage to President Nasheed's gut.

Foreign experts must investigate explosion while crime scene remains intact: MP Ali Azim

Leader of the MDP parliamentary group and MP for Central-Henveiru constituency Ali Azim has stated that it is imperative foreign experts are allowed to investigate the attack on former president Mohamed Nasheed, as soon as possible while the crime scene remains intact.

Two MNDF officers being treated at ADK, discharged

Two officers of the Maldives National Defense Force injured in the IS-backed attempt on Speaker Nasheed's life have now been discharged from ADK Hospital after treatment.

One officer injured in the explosion was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). Three officers sustained injuries, along with three others, including Speaker Nasheed's driver and bodyguard.

One MNDF officer had been discharged at 11:30pm from IGMH, while the second officer was discharged from ADK at 11:50pm.
