The People's Majlis have voted to extend Thursday's sitting of parliament, which is the final sitting for this year's first parliamentary term, until all items on the People's Majlis agenda have been cleared.
All 53 MPs in attendance voted in favor of extending the sitting. The agenda for Thursday's sitting included 10 reports as submitted by various parliament committees.
This includes a report compiled by the Committee on National Development and Heritage on the bill on amendments to the Land Transport Act (No.: 5/2009), along with a report by the Committee on Social Affairs on the resolution calling to provide a youth center for the youths where they can listen music and spend quality time with their friends.
In addition to this, the People's Majlis was set to review negligence on behalf of the National Drug Agency (NDA) as described in a report on the issue by the Committee on Human Rights and Gender. Other notable events on the agenda for Thursday's sitting of parliament include having the People's Majlis review the Judiciary Committee's report on the bill on amendments to the Public Health Protection Act (No.: 7/2012).
The Committee on Independent Institutions, the Committee on Environment and Climate Change and the Committee on State Owned Enterprises have also prepared reports to be reviewed during Thursday's sitting of parliament.
Once reports are submitted to the floor of parliament, MPs will engage in a debate before they vote to pass the reports. After concluding a total of 37 sittings of parliament in the first term of the year, MPs of the People's Majlis will be going on a one-month recess. Sitting's for the second term of the People's Majlis for the ongoing year will be held between June and August.
