Reigning DDPL-champions Maziya Sports and Recreation beat Club Green Street 1-0 during Wednesday night's game for the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League (DDPL).

Maziya secured their 1-0 win over Green Street at the National Stadium, and started the game with great opportunities to score, including a shot by midfielder Mohamed Umair, which was blocked by Green Street's keeper Haneef Sabiq.

Towards half time, Maziya midfielder Hamza Ahmed had a close call on-goal with the Green Street keeper blocking another shot from Maziya's foreign forward Cornelius Stewart as Umair missed a last-minute shot for Maziya to score.

In the second half, former champions Maziya remained in good form, and foreign forward Takashi Odawara was able to score the team's goal with a cross from Hamza Mohamed (Hampu). This is the first goal Takashi has scored for Maziya after joining the team mid-season.

Speaking to the press after the match, Maziya's coach Risto Vidaković stated that while Maziya had won the game, it was their poorest performance by far since he had begun coaching them. He went on to state that Maziya would not be able to claim the league title with their present performance. Green Street's coach Nisthaaru Mohamed told the press that had things gone well, his team would have had won one point from the match, and that, they had once again lost control of the match.

With their win over Club Green Street, Maziya remain at the top of the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League with a 13-point. Maziya have scored 31 points from 13 matches played. Club Valencia follows in second with 24 points from 12 matches played, and if they beat UV on Thursday night, Club Valencia will be able to shorten the point-difference with Maziya down to four points. These results leave Club Green Street third in the Dhiraagu Dhivehi Premier League with 19 points from 14 matches played.
