Air France has resumed flights to the Maldives.
While the airline is among the many that were forced to halt flights to the island nation following border closure due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it restarted flights on Saturday.
According to Maldives Airports Company Limited, Air France will operate three weekly flights to the island nation.
Maldives halted issuing on-arrival visas on March 27 and a little over three months later, reopened borders for international travel on July 15. While tourist arrivals were low following border reopening, it has been increasing every month since.
According to the Ministry of Tourism, 19 airlines currently operate passenger flights to Maldives.
This includes Emirates, who starting from Friday has increased its flight frequency to Maldives, to four daily flights.
MACL said that with the new frequency, Emirates will have over 1,400 seat capacity per day, on their flights to Maldives.
