Pres. heads to India for Modi’s swearing-in ceremony

The Maldivian leader has headed to New Delhi, India, to attend the swearing-in ceremony of India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi.

In a publication on Saturday evening, the President’s Office revealed that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu departed to the neighboring country on Saturday evening.

Taking to social media platform ‘X’ before departing, FM Zameer expressed confidence that the visit to the neighboring country would enhance the relationship and provide further momentum to the partnership between both countries.                                                   

This marks his first-ever official visit to India since assuming office on 17 November 2023.

President Muizzu is accompanied by a high-level delegation of senior government officials, including Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was invited by PM Modi to attend the swearing-in ceremony.

President Muizzu graciously accepted the invitation to attend the oath taking ceremony of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers of the government of India.

High Commissioner of India Munu Mahawar presented the letter of invitation to the Maldivian president during a courtesy call paid at the President's Office.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place on June 9.

The ceremony will be attended by leaders from neighboring countries as well as other countries.
