A 24-year-old woman died in hospital on Sunday, following a motorcycle accident over the past weekend.
Police said that the accident took place near Dharumavantha Hospital in the Maafannu ward of capital Male' City on Friday night, after the driver of a speeding motorcycle lost control of the vehicle.
The woman, who was in the passenger seat, died on Sunday morning while receiving treatment at hospital.
Police said the driver, a 24-year-old male, did not have the license to operate the vehicle.
They continue to investigate the case.
According to the police’s statistics, they had attended to a total of 955 road accidents across the country by the end of September. Out of this, 867 were from the capital.
