Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed that the road construction project in Dhuvaafaru island of Raa atoll is at 81 percent progression.

Taking the project’s progress to Twitter, the company revealed that the project is well underway and that they are working closely with the island community, clients and stakeholders to ensure that development projects are delivered up to the expectation of the island community, stakeholders and clients.

The first phase of the road construction project in Dhuvaafaru was mobilized on June 12, 2019. MTCC began work under the second phase on October 3. Under the second phase, MTCC is contracted to complete pavements stretching up to 4,960 square meters and roads measuring 17,690 square meters as well as planting cables and street lights as well as street signs.

Highlighting that they are currently on the asphalt layering component of the project, MTCC revealed that they are expecting to complete the asphalt work by December 2020.

The project was contracted to the company on September 9, at a price of MVR 37.8 million. MTCC expects to complete the project within 300 days.

The island council has stressed that vehicle operators faced challenges on the roads prior to the commencement of the project, as the island has a large population.

CEO of MTCC, Adam Azim revealed that the company aims to complete contracted development projects as soon as possible and efficiently.

MTCC has been conducting urban development projects across the island nation at swift speeds.
