An elderly man has passed away while receiving treatment after falling into the lagoon of Guraidhoo island in Thaa atoll.
In a message to media, Maldives Police Service (MPS) revealed that they received the report of an 84-year-old man having fallen into the water in the harbor area of the island, at around 8:45pm on Monday.
Police said that they received information of the elderly man having passed away while receiving treatment at the Guraidhoo Health Center, where he was rushed immediately after being rescued.
Necessary investigations have been launched into the death, revealed authorities.
A local media outlet cited the island council having reported that the deceased frequently visited the harbor area and did not have any “known pre-existing medical conditions.”
